They arrested a 13 year old too, I suppose this is their idea of sending a message across. I don’t even know what to say about that. Just got word that Gayathry, from CIJ, and Mien Lor have been released after their statements were taken. A friend and also a lecturer when I was in college, and I’m in complete shock.
I have spent the day looking at Malaysians around me, and having my heart shatter, shatter, shatter. And we have the front page of the dailies with the PM being agreeable to use the ISA.
UPDATE AT 4.30: Yap Swee Seng, Mien Lor, Wong Chin Huat, Dr Dzulkifli Ahmad and Khalid Ibrahim, and Gaya RELEASED.
UPDATE AT 5.00: Ammendment was passed unanimously at 4.50 PM. Rashid stays. Goodnight, and good luck Malaysia.
UPDATE AT 6.00: Uthaya was re-arrested, as soon as his relative posted bail for him, most likely on another sedition charge on the orders of the IGP Musa Hassan.

Where is Islam Hadhari now? Read Melvin’s blog, but only if you’re already depressed. Otherwise, caution necessary.
Now let’s look back at the tenets of his own Civilization Islam (Islam Hadhari):
- Faith and piety in Allah
- Just and trustworthy government
- Freedom and independence to the people
- Mastery of knowledge
- Balanced and comprehensive economic development
- Good quality of life for all
- Protection of the rights of minority groups and women
- Cultural and moral integrity
- Protection of the environment
- A strong defence policy
In the three rallies, the so called Grand Imam of Islam Hadhari had violated the keymost principle of his tenet: Freedom and Independence to the People. The reaction to the HINDRAF rally shows that he had violated another principle: Protection of the rights of minority groups and women.

Is it any surprise that BN’s election chief Rashid’s tenure is extended? It is a foregone conclusion once the amendments are tabled?
The sad thing is that in all likelihood with all the hanky panky going on at the Election Commission, BN complete monopoly of the mainstream media, well you name it BN has it, they will be reelected with a 2/3 majority.
But, still a salute to the opposition MP’s ,at least, they didn’t lend credibility to the Parliamentary farce!!

I’m sure God is still around, watching from a distance.. And he has either a huge frown on his face, is nodding his head in disapproval, or is doing both at the same time!
This is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous! How on EARTH could they have passed the ammendment? And UNANIMOUSLY?!?!? It is so incredibly and blatantly obvious of who’s interests are being served here, and it is NOT the majority of the public, but our ruling party!
God help us..
And about all these arrests.. I wish that Pak Lah and our other ‘esteemed’ politicians begin to see the difference between what is morally right and what is legal.. Was their gathering illegal? YES.. But does that make it MORALLY WRONG? NO.. Only a fool of a student of law would claim that if something is illegal, that makes it wrong, and if something is legal, that it makes it alright.. That’s why judgments and verdicts are not handled by a computer program! Can you imagine if our criminal justice system was basically a HUGE computer? As soon as a law is broken, someone is arrested, someone is charged.. Things would go CRAAAZY if that happened! Why? Because the role of the courts and the police is to administer and enforce the law in a way so that the greater justice is served in this land.. Just take our parking situation across Malaysia on friday afternoons: Lots of people going to the mosque park illegally to get to the mosque, right? But should the police go and issue them summons, or tow their cars away? NO. Why? Even though the law is bring broken, who’s interests would be served by enforcing it?
I ask the same question to our government now. Yes, the law has technically been broken. But who’s interests are being served by enforcing these laws? The answer is… (drum roll please..) THE RULING PARTY!
Come on Pak Lah, this is something that goes beyond ‘break the law and you’ll be punished’.. This is about fundamental human rights.. This is about the right to air our grievances.. This is about unhappy Malaysians doing what unhappy Anybody would do - we FIGHT BACK.. Is it really so hard to understand why there have been so many demonstrations and the such lately?
This ’selective justice’ that is going on now MUST stop.. I have never been so embarrassed of our Malaysian Government in my entire life..

Your reports is a reflextion of a Govt in desperation to survive. The actions of the Police and the govt the past two months until today reflexs their inability to explain and justify their actions in using violence against the Hindraf members at Batu Caves, opposing Bail for the 32 indians at the Shah Alam courts which is a gross injustice to them and their families, extending the age limit of election com. chairman , further arrests of peaceful marchers on Human rights day and today”s events. BN leaders will are doomed at the next elections. The PM”s statement that Publics safety comes first before Public Freedom is pure Bullshit. Today,s Public is no more Padi Planters. Rubber Tappers, And Tin Mine workers. The PM should resign for his failure to uphold the Laws of the nation .

who is this parents of the 13year old muhaimin? Teaching the values of democracies by letting this kid got arrested? Is their parent mental or what? Which teachings of religion told their parents that is good to bring kids at rallies? for once think with your head and not with your emotions.
and mr. k.sanmugam, what makes you think padi planters, rubber tappers and tin mine workers are stupid? Looks like you are worse than government by stereotyping people. No wonder Pak Lah can administers the country successfully. we malaysian are just stupid, like to follow emotions, erratic thinkers and above all easy to be manipulated not only by government but by oppositions, minorities and stupidities!!
