Bumping and Grinding.

So, about two months ago, my brother on his way to the bathroom, where my room is… heard loud noises from what he thought was a rat, or some small animal in my room. Of course, the idiot didn’t do anything, but told me about it. I told him, there was no small animal in my room, and we never spoke about it again. Last night, he asked me if I heard the noises personally, and I said I hadn’t.

So he tells me how, that same morning he came in to iron his clothes, and as he was doing it. He hears this loud noises in my room, like something ferocious. As he moves closer to me, he finds out it wasn’t any small animal, but rather, I have been and I quote, “Grinding the shit out of my teeth.” Apparently, it happens as a reflex, because the brain is inactive, but the mouth isn’t? Or something like that. And it’s called bruxism. Sounds awful, like a disease. Since, I still can’t hear it myself, it hasn’t progressed to far, but when I start hearing it, it’s bad.

I’ve been told that I grind my teeth many times, but I assumed it was normal. My dentist knows I grind my teeth as well. But, it was never this serious. I’ve run down quite a bit of enamel on my back teeth, and this has caused my jaw to be very numb in the morning, and I often get migraines because of this. Apparently, bruxism causes that. So before I grind away all my teeth, I’m getting a fitting done soon for a mouth guard which I will have to wear when I sleep every night. Apparently the causes are nicotine, caffeine, emotional repression, anxiety, stress, hyperactive or competitive behavior.

Needless to say, I’m a bit freaked. Anyway. I’m going for the Rainforest World Music Festival in an hour or two. So if you’re in Sarawak, shout out! Bump.
